Probabilistic Modelling With WinBugs. Spring 2004

This course is designed to teach students how to use the WinBUGS package to carry out probabilistic and statistical analyses. It will include lectures and practical computer based sessions, giving the students hands-on experience of WinBUGS. The course will be aimed at higher level undergraduate and postgraduate students in mathematics and statistics. Some basic knowledge of Bayesian inference will be an advantage, although it is not a prerequisite. Credits: 1+1ov.

As the number of places on the course is limited, students should pre-register by emailing Bob O'Hara. Also email me if you want any more information.

Dates: Monday 1st March -Friday 5th March

Times: 10am - 5pm

Place: Mathematics computer room

Teachers: Andrew Thomas and Bob O'Hara, Rolf Nevanlinna Institute

This course will roughly follow the lines of the similar course given last year, so if you want advanced warning of what to expect, go here

Lectures

These are the lectures, and a couple of practicals. More practicals will appear later (as we write them!). There may also be changes, as the schedule changes.

The present plan is to cover the Introduction to Bayesian Analysis, and MCMC I and Graphical Models 1 on Monday, along with the Line practical. We might do Graphical Models 2 and the Pump practical if things go really well.
